My “Restraints” collection is a take on traditional ballet movements. Rather than focusing solely on how fluid ballet movements are, I use the unnatural and constraining shapes that the body can create to convey a message of how beautiful, yet difficult, the dance industry can be for dancers, imposing restraints on them both physically and emotionally.

It focuses on structured, yet flowing garments and print development based on the body’s shapes and paths created in certain movements. It uses a lot of satin and even satin ribbon to simulate the laces on a pair of pointe shoes. It also focuses on using the pointe shoe to create slightly more wearable high heeled shoes.
